e-Freight
e-Freight is a cross-industry initiative involving Airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling operators, dispatchers, authorities and customs brokers. The objective is to transform and dematerialize the air freight process, replacing paper documentation with digital solutions, supported by appropriate regulations, electronic messaging and high-quality data.
The initiative focuses on the digitalization of three essential types of documents associated with air freight:
- Customs documents, involving regulators and governments around the world to create an “e-Freight routes network”, where customs procedures are fully electronic and regulations support paperless shipments;
- Transport documents, promoting collaboration within the Cargo supply chain to digitize the industry's main transport documents, starting with the Air Consignment Note (AWB);
- Commercial and Special Cargo Documents, developing a plan to digitize commercial documents and documents related to Special Cargo that normally accompany air Cargo shipments, inside or outside the so-called cargo pouch.
e-AWB
The Air Consignment Note (AWB) is a fundamental document in the air transportation of Cargo, representing the transportation contract between the dispatcher and the carrier (Airline). With Resolution 672 (MeA), which implements the Electronic Air Consignment Note (e-AWB), the paper version is no longer necessary. Since January 1, 2019, the digitalization of the process eliminates the need for printing, handling, and filing physical documents, making air transport more agile and efficient.
